I have fallen back into my non-posting ways, despite Dylan’s constant pestering to update my blog.  I was focused on school and all the work it entails, but that particular excuse expired May 9th.  I have been largely uninspired about blogging, until something that was both hilarious, but oddly sad, happened last night.

It was a few minutes before the close of the business day  and I was gathering up my things and taking care of a last few work details.  I am not sure where the normal security guard was, but this old guy was filling in for him.  I’ve always thought it was kind of funny that he was a security guard because he is really thin and frail looking, hardly a threat to anyone.  Anyhow, this security guard, we’ll call him Bob from here on out, feels the need to check every part of the bank before we close.  Norm, the regular guy does not do this, but Bob walks around all the cubicles and everything.

So there I was, minding my own business, counting down the last few minutes of work, when in shuffles Bob.  He said hi and asked me how I was and I replied accordingly.  I wasn’t paying too much attention, so I thought I must have misheard him when he asked how “the little one” was.  I think I looked at him really funny and said “Wha…?” in a super coherent way.  Then he looked confused and said that he’d thought I was pregnant at this time last year.  Ummm…no,  just super puffed out because of all the medication I was on.  I mean, Dylan and I used to joke around about telling people I was expecting because I did look about 4 months pregnant, but I didn’t realize anybody ACTUALLY thought I was.  It was kind of an awkward exchange after that, because Bob felt really bad when he found out that I had never been pregnant.  He attempted to site some other employee who only works on Saturdays that looks just like me  and who was pregnant, but for the life of me I can’t think of who that would be.  Maybe I should have just gone along with it…but who knows what kind of weird rumors that would have ignited. If there is one thing that is inescapable about banks, it’s that they are raging gossip mills.

Honestly, I found the whole thing pretty amusing.  If I have had one thing going for me throughout all of these ordeals with my health, it has been a good sense of humor.  Dylan, my mom and I have laughed through some pretty awful moments over the last year.  So even though it was mildly horrifying to be mistaken as pregnant, it was also really funny.
