Aggravation Nation
I am frustrated. Frustrated with my job, with trying to find the medical records office, with life in general right now. Maybe it was just a trying day. I have been filling in at work right now as we are grossly understaffed, but since I am working Saturday I got to take a 1/2 day during the week. Dylan and I still needed to get our passports, so we coordinated our schedules and I took my half day today. Things have been so insane at work for the past week or so that I was really looking forward to have a morning off. Apparently a relaxed a.m. was just not in the cards though.
It started early this morning, when Dylan and I decided to actually read the passport application instructions and discovered that we would need birth certificates. We knew where Dylan’s was, but mine had been misplaced somewhere along the way. After some quick checking I found that I could pick up a certified copy at the vital statistics office in Weld County. I found the address online and set out to find the office. And that is when things went south. Greeley is a wonky little town that apparently has Avenues and North Avenues that are not anywhere near each other at all. So I spent half and hour driving around the same area looking for north 17th avenue when it is a good 7 minutes drive away from just plain old 17th avenue. I finally parked, went into a nearby business and asked for directions. I was irked, and super agitated by the time I finally did find the dumb office which is way over on the very edge of town. On the upside, the actual getting of the passports was very easy. My boss had recommended using the Evans post office due its lower customer volume, and Dylan and I were able to get things done really quickly. Nice.
However, when I got to work I learned that my boss has given his two weeks notice. This sucks for two reasons: 1) we are already very short handed, and one of my coworkers is set to go on maternity in about two weeks too. So things are only going to get worse. The bank is taking their time hiring, but in two weeks there will only be three of us here answering the phones for all nine locations without a supervisor. Fabulous. 2) I liked my boss. He was cool and let me do homework on the job as long as I answered the phone. I don’t know how the new supervisor (when they finally get around to hiring one) is going to be, or if they’ll even work with my schedule, which will be pretty weird this Fall. The only thing certain thing is that work is going to continue being too busy for at least another month. Ugh! I feel like hiding under my bed until school rolls around again.
And…there are still 11 days left until I find out my PLACE test results. How is that even possible?!?
