I am wearing jeans today, something I have not done for five whole months. It is splendid. At first, I could not wear jeans because of the lovely skin lesions I developed as a result of taking Colazal. Jeans put too much pressure on the areas affected by the drug rash. I was pretty much limited to wearing sweat pants, which I realize does not sound too awful, but they do get old after about 2 weeks. We managed to get the plague under control after two months or so, but the medication that subdued the plague causes water retention. Lots and lots of water retention. So much water retention, in fact, that I do not fit into any of my jeans. It is sad.
So today, after attempting to squeeze into a pair of my jeans (they almost fit, it was really close), I borrowed a pair of my moms. They are slightly snug in the waist…but they do fit. I am a happy camper.

Last night it rained like crazy. Of course Dylan and I had to go run amuck in the wet. We have been collecting and watching the seasons of Roseanne and went in search of the third season at Target. We had previously looked for it this weekend, but alas it was out of stock. After a mad dash into the store, we were rewarded with 1) being minorly soaked instead of outright drenched and 2) finding our sought-after DVD. Nice.
I decided to attempt retrieving my mail for the third time today and – miracle of miracles! – my key has decided to be effective again. Weird! I have no idea what prompts these brief periods of denied access, but for the time being, I seem to be able to collect my mail.

My mail box is being uncooperative. The last few times I have stopped to collect my mail, I have had to struggle to get the key into the lock. And, once I’ve managed to cajole the box into accepting my key, the lock won’t budge. Before last week, I had never encountered any type of trouble opening my mail box, and I’ve had the same key for over a year and half. What’s really odd is that a few months ago the same thing happened to Dylan. I was there to witness it (and make fun of him, I admit). He couldn’t get the box to open, but when I used my key the little door just swung right open. But now my key seems to be useless, and his key works…what!?! Its perplexing.

Today was the day of the big garage sale. It was crazy. I received a call from my mom around 7:15 this morning asking if I could come help out, because there was already a crowd of people there checking things out. At 7:15 on a Friday morning!? People are nuts. I arrived on the scene about 5 minutes later and spent most of the morning helping out. Luckily they put me in charge of handling the money because it was wicked hot out. My job allowed me to station myself in the shelter of the garage and mostly avoid the heat and sun.
I had to head to work at about 2:00 and was relieved to enter the air-conditioned goodness of the office. But now I am tired. I didn’t do that much this morning, but I think that the heat takes it out of you. It’s all good, because tonight the plan is to order pizza and watch Roseanne, Season 2. Nice.

It has been same old stuff lately. Just working and hanging out at home. Even though there hasn’t been much exciting going on, I can’t say that I mind the peace and quiet.
My friend Amanda has been in town this week, which has been really nice. She goes to school in Golden and has an insane schedule, so we rarely see each other. She and I work at the same bank and have gotten to visit quite a bit. I have enjoyed catching up with her. Amanda is just fun.
Dylan and I accidentally bought the reduced sugar Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I honestly wouldn’t have thought that it would make that big of a difference, but it does. I knew something was wrong right away, which is what prompted us to examine the box and discover our error. So this is my public service announcement: don’t buy reduced sugar cereal. It’s gross.
Well, sadly that’s all the news I have to report at this point. Except that I found out that one of my medications comes in a format that can be mixed in with icecream. Sweet. I will certainly be following up on that. I don’t really need an excuse to eat icecream, but this would certainly provide me with one, and that can’t be a bad thing.

My cold finally dropped into my chest this weekend which, while it might sound weird, is wonderful. It is much easier to sleep with a hacking cough than irritated sinuses. Even getting a few good nights sleep has made a huge difference. I am getting frustrated with my restrictive diet, mostly because I am craving mac n’ cheese like nobody’s business. But, I was informed today that chocolate soy milk is pretty much like regular chocolate milk. I’ll be trying that soon.
I have been doing some bead weaving for my Fibers class and it is pretty cool. The weavings are only 3 x 5 inches and all my designs are abstract and brightly colored. It is a slightly addicting process, however. Once you get started you just keep thinking that you’ll just do a little bit more, and then the next thing you know you’ve spent half the night slaving over these little seed beads. It’s craziness.
Dylan and I bought a new printer this weekend. It is so fancy. I mean, the printer itself is really not super high-tech or anything, but we haven’t had a printer at home for about 2 years. I am just excited that hitting the print button actually produces something. It was sweet though, we had actually picked out the model below the one we got, but since the people at the store couldn’t locate it, we got upgraded. Nice!
Back to school and work tomorrow. So tired of my job…sick of banking in general actually. It really reaffirms my decision to go back to school. But for now…I suppose I should keep paying the bills.
