After observing Dylan’s eating habits the past few days, it has occurred to me that it is going to take him a long while to put on the poundage necessary for his ring to fit him. I, on the other hand, am packing it on like nobody’s business. I eat more than Dylan at every meal. Now, part of this is because I’m just cool, but a lot of it is due to the medication I am on. So, the new plan is just to slip Dylan a little bit of my medication each day. That’ll fatten him up real quick. Okay…not really. I suppose I will use my mediocre metalsmithing skills to fix his ring. Darn moral ethics, always getting in the way.
My doctor’s appointment went suprisingly well yesterday. The doctors were impressed with the progress my wounds are making, so that was nice. When I went last week I was told they looked okay and then they squirted me with a bunch of saline using a syringe. So fun. This time, I got a wow and a double thumbs up. They still dumped saline on me though, I guess it just can’t be avoided. Oh well.
I need to go get some water. I am sitting here being thirsty when the kitchen is 25 feet away. Pretty lazy eh? But I suppose that’s the name of the game on Saturdays. Alright…I’m going to attempt the trek across the living room.

That’s right…today was casting day, and I ruled it up. Okay, my instructor helped me with the torch a bit, but otherwise I was in control. It is quite the adrenaline rush. And, Dylan’s ring came out very nicely. The only problem is that it is a little big for him, which is baffling because the wax mold fit him snugly. I am slightly peeved, but will think of something to tweak it. Maybe Dylan could gain a few pounds…that would be the easiest way, I think.
I have yet another doctor’s appointment tomorrow, and am not looking forward to it in the least. This is my fourth appointment this month and I have one next week as well. Ugh! I am so tired of medical crap. I know that isn’t the attitude to have…but I am allowed to feel fed up every now and again. On the bright side, my wounds are making pretty good progress. I have been using an algae-based stimulant to pack them and it seems to be working. I am hoping that they will be mostly healed in a few more weeks. Alright, I really hope that they will be healed when I wake up tomorrow, but I try to set realistic goals.
Well, I am going to go offer Dylan some icecream…I’ll make it a big bowl, and then his ring will fit sooner.

So…I was quite proud of myself this morning. I had to have blood drawn and I did. It may not seem like a big deal, but for me it was. I have, as I am sure anybody who reads this has figured out, a serious aversion to needles, followed very closely by my dislike of blood and anything having to do with my veins. I only cried a very little bit, and the phlobotomist was awesome. Three cheers for Reina. Usually it takes a full two to three minutes for the nurses to get things done, during which time I lose the feeling in my hands and chest because I am hyperventiliating, but this lady ruled it up in about 10 seconds. It was amazing. And that is why I have earned the title of Sarah the Brave for today.
It has been a crazy week, and I am very grateful that tomorrow is Friday. I am observing in the afternoon, but otherwise am free. Free to do my homework, that is. But all the same, I am ready for the weekend. Dylan is working all day at the Children’s Festival on Saturday, which is kind of sad because it will cut into our weekend time together, but I think he will have fun. I just know that he has had a long week too, and wish that he got to have a more relaxing weekend.
As for me, it’s going to be a long weekend of ruling up the school work. I have to pretty much wrap up my project for my education class, get a healthy chunk of the piece I am creating for my jewelry class completed, and work on the wax model for the next project in that class. I will be casting a new wedding ring for Dylan, since he misplaced his when I was in the hospital. Casting involves using a very large torch to melt the metal. I am very afraid….I will earn the title of Sarah the Brave the day I cast, too. Rotten metal, having to be melted with scary fire. Plus, I have a little bit of work to do for my computer course. Ick. Only 5 more weeks left though, so it is time to kick it into gear.

This weekend was wacky. Just full to the brim with happenings, which unfortunately didn’t leave much time for it to be relaxing. It all started on Friday, when Dylan lost his job rather unexpectedly. The company that he was working for decided that his position was not generating enough income, so they are basically absorbing it into someone else’s job. That person is getting tricked…but at least they still have a job, I guess. Dylan kind of got the short end of the stick because he was the last person hired, etc. It was a bum deal.
So, while I was in FoCo lending moral support, distraction and helping Dylan pack up his office, I applied at Anne Taylor Loft. You have to fill out a pretty standard application as well as take an online assessment, which is basically a personality profile. The best part is, I failed it. Seriously. I don’t really know how, but they called and told me I didn’t score high enough to be considered for employment in their store. Heh. Ironically, they were pretty rude about it, which made it even better. I mean, I’ll admit I felt a little flawed for awhile…who wouldn’t after failing a personality test? But now I find it down right funny.

Only one day of break left…sad day. Dylan and I have been quite productive this week though, ruling up painting the house and such. I also did a fair amount of school work, even though it only served to catch me back up. It would be nice to be ahead for once. Oh well.
So, Dylan has been sewing like a fiend. He made me a swe-et purse. And he did it in about 4 hours. It was crazy. I fell asleep and he woke me up and it was done..just like that. It is awesome…I am very impressed with the whole thing. He is also almost finished with my clown overalls. They are very cool. My bag is the same material: black with brightly colored concentric circles. It rules. I think that Dylan will be posting some photos of them on his site, so be sure to check them out.
I have a bunch of doctor’s appointments this week…blech! I am not particularly looking forward to them. One on Monday about the UC, and one on Tuesday to check up on my brush with the plague. I got my stitches out on Friday…I wasn’t a fan since they were conveniently positioned on one of my raw patches. Hopefully I can just get healthy now.
I am watching Mar Poppins and waiting for dinner to cook, but I have to go make some rolls now. MMM…rolls.

Well, it has been quite awhile, hasn’t it? I really have no super good excuse, so I’ll just blame Amanda. Honestly though, things have just been incredibly, irritatingly busy. I remember thinking life would slow down once I graduated from college, but that didn’t really happen. Of course, I did go back to school, so maybe that’s the problem. Dumb education.
There is still a lot going on, but I thought I would renew my effort to be a good little blogger and update my site. Dylan has become quite the computer nerd and has said that he will help me make my page sweeter…so we’ll see. I’d like a new banner, Beda’s eyes look a little hazy in the current photo.
I am about half way through the Spring semester…and am ready to be finished. I only took three classes, trying to give myself a lighter load after last semester’s health problems. I still ended up with a pretty decent workload…and ran into some more fun health problems a few weeks ago. I am pretty tired of my body at this point. I realize it is probably sick of itself too, but still it seems to be one thing after another. I had some weird inner ear virus at the beginning of the year, which made me super dizzy for about two weeks. Then I spent about three weeks battling whatever general colds were going around, and I’ve spent the last two and half weeks dealing with something called drug rashes. These are very itchy, painful, bruise-like things that develop fairly rapidly when your body decides to reject the medication you are on for another medical condition. In short, they suck. Don’t get them. Especially if you are a wuss like me. At some point you’d think I’d just get used to needles and blood…but not yet.
On a more happy and less whiny note, Dylan is making me a clown costume. I am pretty excited about it, even though I really have no clown skills as of yet. I have tried juggling and unicycling before and had a little success, but I will need a lot of practice. I am also supposed to learn about balloon animals. He is cutting out the pattern for my overalls right now, I picked out some fun material this morning, so I am anxious to see them.
I also think I may have found a place to sell my felted purses. I am really hoping so, since I can’t seem to find a job, and a little income would be nice. I keep applying places…but nobody calls me back. It’s pretty discouraging…plus, I’m so awesome, you think someone might realize this. Alas…the job search persists.
I suppose that is enough of a rambling update for now. I have not done a lick of homework during my break, and I am slightly behind due to my brush with the plague. Stupid projects. Oh well…I will try hard to be a better blogger. Of course, I think I’ve said that before. This time for real.

So…things have been a little crazy lately..which explains my lack of posting. This week was mid-term for me, so I had a lot of stuff do. And I made the wise decision to spend a weekend in VT the weekend before such a busy week. Sometimes I am a really smart cookie. Speaking of which, I need to give a big shout out to Steve and Dylan for saving my butt this week. I had this rotten project that I neglected to do for, oh I don’t know, a month or so, and it was due Monday. So…I started planning Saturday, and on Sunday the two of them pretty much created my sculpture for me. Without them I probably would have turned in a piece of paper with some pictures taped to it. Thanks guys..you rule!
I had a nice time in Vermont though seeing all my family. We went to a crazy craft show one day and ran amuck. It was great fun. And I of course went to Al’s French Fry, which is the best fast food place in the entire world. If you ever go to VT, you must go there or you are just missing out.
Things are settling down now, which I am grateful for. My observation schedule is in full swing and I am spending around 13 hours a week in schools other than UNC right now. It is very interesting to observe the high school level and then teach the elementary kids. There is such a difference.
I have also been starting to feel better lately. My energy level is up and that is probably been the biggest challenge. I was so tired all the time…it really sucked. I like being able to do stuff and not have to go take a nap afterwards.
I still have a lot of work to do…I am especially behind in my fibers class still. We are making Japanese Fireman Jackets. It involves embroidery and a special dye process. Also some sewing. I need to kick it into gear. I suppose I will go do that now.

We arrived home from Vegas last night around 9:45. It was a crazy trip. First of all, it was the first road trip I had ever attempted sans parents, so that was cool. Utah was as boring as everybody warned it would be, although I think I appreciated some of the scenery a little more than the average person because I am a huge photo dork (just in case the web address didn’t clue you in).
We saw Mama Mia, which ruled. Our seats were right next to these three innebriated guys who found themselves hilarious though they were actually fairly irritating. They simmered down pretty quickly after the beefy man in front of us threatened them 5 minutes into the performance.
We also saw the Cirque De Soliel show O! and it was insane. About 3/4 of the performance takes place in water and there were some spectacular diving stunts. Plus, the clowns were hilarious. I practically had to drag Dylan from the auditorium afterwards, as he seemed intent on staying for the 10:30 show as well.
We didn’t gamble too much, just a bit of slot machine action, and we didn’t strike it filthy rich as we’d hoped. But we did visit an awesome Impressionist painter exhibit at the Belaggio and I saw my first real Van Gogh. There were also some Monets and Reniors. My only gripe is that the show was hung a little high, so I had to stand on my tip toes several times to really see the paintings. And we went to the aquarium in Mandalay Bay, because it was called Shark Reef and Dylan can’t resist such things.
Now this is totally random, but the most bizarre thing happened the day before our trip. I was brushing my teeth, with my awesome pink sparkly tooth brush, and the top brushy part just totally snapped off. And, since I was mid-brush, I stabbed myself in the face with the handle part. Stupid free tooth brushes. What can I say? I brush hard.

Well I have survived my first week of school. I managed to rig my schedule so that I have no class on Fridays, so Thursdays are the end of the week for me. At least for now…soon I will be observing all or part of the day on Fridays. That’ll ruin my fun real quick. My credit count is now upto 19 and 3 of my courses are on the graduate level. I don’t know if that makes me very ambitious or just insane. Maybe insanely ambitious?
Tomorrow I have to have some medical tests done…and I am not looking forward to it in the least. I suppose there is the hope that they will be able to figure what’s going on with me, and then I could feel better. On the other hand, there will be an IV involved, and as far as I’m concerned that’s just a very long shot. I hate needles, mostly because I have a ridiculous fear of them. Hopefully all goes well.
Next weekend is Dylan and I’s one year wedding anniversary. Hooray for us! We are going on a road trip to Vegas for the weekend. It’ll be sweet.
